Multiple storefront projects are complete, underway, and moving into construction this fall.

We are excited to report strong progress on multiple façade improvement projects along York Road this month.
Construction has just been completed at 4612 York Road, delivering a full storefront redesign with new windows, doors, updated exterior lighting, and professionally designed signage. At the same time, work is well underway at 4709 York Road, led by a local, minority-owned contractor. This project is expected to be finished by the end of October, bringing immediate corridor uplift at a highly visible location.
Meanwhile, two additional projects – 4670 York Road and 4711 York Road – are now under formal design review with the Baltimore Development Corporation (BDC). These projects represent a deeper level of collaboration with BDC’s technical design process, and once finalized, will set a new standard for design quality across the corridor. Both are expected to move into construction this fall.

Before and After Rendering of Planned Improvements at 4711 York Road (design still under review).
With these four projects, YRID will have effectively completed its façade pipeline south of Cold Spring Lane—a milestone that reflects years of relationship building, outreach, and persistent advocacy. The only additional façade upgrade currently planned is the new Raspberry Moments bakery buildout at 4646 York Road, which is proceeding separately under our Project Restore grant.
Looking ahead, our next major focus will be the Homeland Shopping Center (5400 block of York Road). We are preparing a large-scale upgrade that will include new façade treatments, improved signage, and parking lot improvements. As one of the corridor’s anchor sites, this project will demonstrate YRID’s ability to deliver transformative improvements across multi-tenant retail environments.
